Kidney shaped desk from the famous producer Gispen started by the as famous Dutch Bauhaus designer Gispen (1890 > 1981). He was known for his avantgarde furniture, and received medals for his iron-work. In the 20s he had showrooms in A’dam, R’dam, Brussels, Paris, London and more. He fully furnished the “Huis Sonneveld” (the last pictures in this ad). Gispen still exists today and has a “Stichting Gispen Collectie” taking care of the Gispen collections and informing people about this piece of Dutch history. The designer of this desk is W. Van Osselen (1900 > 1968) for Gispen.
Top of their range in the 1950s, named “President” desk, number 7762. Includes the original metal pen drawer and the resin beige finishing, the most luxurious at the time.
This desk was bought by the founder of prestigious English cloth maker Scabal, Mr Otto Herz (see the pics with him on this very desk).
